I just turned 63 and is time to hang up the motorcycle boots.
1980 red smoke BMW R100RT that I have owned since 1984. Original european import as I brought the bike across from The Netherlands in 1993. The tacho therefor reads in KM's only. No miles indicator on the tacho! And also even on the km dial it is pretty inaccurate!

1980 red smoke BMW R100RT that I have owned since 1984. Original european import as I brought the bike across from The Netherlands in 1993. The tacho therefor reads in KM’s only. No miles indicator on the tacho! And also even on the km dial it is pretty inaccurate!
Total original miles (everything is converted from kms) is 242333 miles. Total rebuilt at mileage 205000. It then also got is’t first new clutch, which indicates how I have driven this bike. Engine and transmission fully rebuilt by the highly reputable Roger Reuben of Anacortes,
So, it has currently 37000 miles on it.
I installed the deep oilsump from BMW to accommodate an in the oil heating coil. I use it year round and takes around 30 minutes to get the oil nice and warm. The coil is a 100W coil.
K&N Airfilter.
Steel braided brake cables.
It comes with custom installed Micatech aluminum cases. I wore out the original BMW cases and decided on these solid Micatech ones. With the custom rack: one can put 50lbs in ONE case and have no problems bouncing over railroad tracks.
The side cases fit one full size helmet.
Original seat was replaced for a Rich’s Custom Seat with gelpads.
Wheels have Doran tire pressure sensors installed but they need replacing after not having used the bike for 5 years.
Front brakes do not work. Could be a cable break or more serious work needed. Rear brakes work so the bike is driveable. But not recommended to do so. In case a bidder lives close by I can drive the bike over. I’d rather drive it myself over having a less experienced rider jump on it with the rather weak rear brakes.
Comes with brand new battery installed. Also has new rear tire but has been sitting for 5 years. Front tire is 3/4 used. Tires are installed as tubeless. BMW does not recommend that for this bike, but I have run tubeless tires on these rims for over 20 years and had a flat tire once not fall off the rim while riding with it to get off the freeway for a few miles…
Also has the P3 rear brake lights and front amper lights for added safety.
The bike also has heated handle bars. And also a self installed mud flap to keep your feet dry on wet roads!
Comes with brand new, not installed, stainless exhausts. The stainless bends are on the bike but the exhausts are regular ones currently on there.
Comes with a lot of spare oil filters, a dash switch. Spare cylinder cover gasket and lots of small spare parts that get gathered over the years.
Payment must be in cash.
